Sales, Persuasion and Psychology books by J H McIntosh

Among those that have most influenced the author are: Norman Vicent Peale’s The Power of Positive Thinking, Dale Carnegie’s How to Win Friends and Influence People, Napoleon Hills’ Think and Grow Rich, Robert Cialdini’s Influence: The Psychology of Persuasion, Stephen Covey’s The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, Simon Sinek’s Start With Why, Zig Ziglar’s “See You at the Top”, Earl Nightingale’s Acre’s of Diamonds, Peter Drucker’s People and Performance, Helen Schucman’s A Course in Miracles, Emmet Fox’s Golden Keys to Successful Living, Og Mandino’s The Greatest Miracle in the World, Jim Rohn’s My Philosophy for Successful Living and Mark Twain’s Huckleberry Finn. This in no way exhaust the list of influences that went into the author’s Careful What You Think.
Finally, it would be a gross injustice not to mention the influence of the teachings of Jesus Christ especially those given in The Sermon on the Mount.

Fiction by J H McIntosh

If your actions led to the death of your own father (as was the case with Jimmy's father Red Rogers), what kind of father would you be? The song "Telling Stories" hints at Red's torment from his lingering guilt over his father's death. Jimmy's mother Esther is his one ray of sunshine. "Telling Stories" is one of 12 original songs punctuating events in Jimmy's Senior year of High School.
Seeing Elvis in concert gave him renewed hope his father's view (life is a cruel joke) was wrong. His excitement shines in the song “Whataboutawow".
Jimmy played guitar with The Rhythm Kings at the high school dance. Later, at Prof Remember's Cafe he saw Marie and was so love-struck he wrote a new song "Lickity Split". Rich Uncle Stanford repeatedly told Jimmy: "See me if you need anything." Jimmy set an early morning meeting to seek Stanford's help in turning his song into a hit record. "
Uncle Stanford ridiculed Jimmy's dream of playing the guitar and writing songs for a living. The song "Stones" reflects the danger of placing too much faith in others.
The sound of Esther sobbing awakens Jimmy. Red is in jail. At school Jimmy learns David and Cathy have died mysteriously. Later, the factory where Jimmy and Red worked burned to the ground. Then Jimmy finds Marie in the arms of another. The impact of all this is evident in "The Saturday and Sunday Blues". Jimmy accepts Red's belief: "life is a cruel joke". As Jimmy climbs the top railing of the Langford Bridge, he is crushed and crashed landed. We hear "Deep Down Inside I Cry" as the scene plays out.
Find out what happens to Jimmy by getting your copy of "Can't Stop It!". Click or tap one of the green buttons below.
